Maggie Gyllenhaal has joined the comedy Frank which will be directed by Lenny Abrahamson (What Richard Did) says the Albuquerque Business First,


The film follows an aspiring musician named Jon (Domhnall Gleeson), who joins an eccentric pop band led by the mysterious and enigmatic Frank (Michael Fassbender).

Gyllenhaal's role is not known but a romantic interest for Fassbender iis a safe bet

Peter Straughan and Jon Ronson (The Men Who Stare at Goats) wrote the script that is loosely based around the life of Chris Sievey, an English musician and comedian known for fronting the band The Freshies in the late 1970s and for his comic persona Frank Sidebottom created in 1984.

David Barron, Ed Guiney, Stevie Lee and Andrew Lowe will produce the film

Production kicks off in a few weeks in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a likely late 2013 bow
